Members AlamoJoe Posted March 22, 2019 Members Share Posted March 22, 2019 Leo Fender built the Showman amplifier expressly for Dick Dick always played with his amps dimed and I guess Leo got tired of Dick blowing up Twins like they were popcorn at a county fair. My second cousin, 12 years older than me, got to see Dick in two different stages of his career. The same cousin went with me to see Deep Purple in the Houston Coliseum. An enclosed stadium, not very kind to rock really. Oppressively loud. The cuz wasn't around much, and was really kind to take me. Trying to make up for lost time with his favorite cousins kid I guess. So he was not that into Purple. I was gassed of course, being a Blackmore fan. After we left on the way home I said "Man that was loud! My ears are still ringing!" He laughed, and said "Dick Dale is twice as loud as those guys."
