This is no worse than what I hear every day at work from the CNC mills cutting plastic next door to the lab (on those very rare occasions I pull out my earplugs).

I suspect this sound is the result of two or more ultrasound beams that have enough SPL to cause heterodyne mixing in the air. Our own government has done research on similar things.

I don't know whether infrasound is hazardous ( I suspect not, else EDM subwoofer manufacturers would have serious liability problems.) But high intensity ultrasound is definitely dangerous - it can cause brain aneurisms and other serious problems.

I'm not certain, so please don't take this as gospel, but I thought they had ruled that out? I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere... I can't remember where it was ATM though.

FWIW, I've heard it twice now - once on the TV news, and now once in this thread.

I've noticed no negative effects... which leads me to believe that there is some other component to this besides what they recorded that caused the effects.

But to be safe, I wouldn't recommend listening to it for long periods of time.

Speaking of Ancient Aliens, the Discovery Channel was running a show on advanced weapons or something and mentioned LRADs; Long Range Acoustic Device I believe. Old tech it seems but some of the symptoms mentioned are consistent with the diplomat's.
