  • Using Arpeggiators with Percussion

Fun trick: Load a synth patch that's loaded with percussion sounds, and trigger it with an arpeggiator. You get all kinds of neat percussion patterns...
The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

We as drummers playing modern genre tend to think that way. It's far easier both physically as well as musically to interleave your drum / percussion kit than to simply race around it. If done with some aforethought you can get a counterpoint of timbres all for the one linear pattern.
