I had a guitar student years ago who, after I played some of Sister Tharpe's tunes, later went to visit his mother who, in turn, exclaimed "Oh, I remember HER!" Still a source of pride for all Americans, as she was one of the first exports to Europe. And we all know what they did with this great music.
