CMS Author MikeRivers Posted September 19, 2014 CMS Author Share Posted September 19, 2014 A demolition application has been filed to tear down this legendary Nashville recording studio. Apparently there are some political battles being fought over it, but Craig, can you please just convince Henry to buy it and set up the Gibson Recording Outpost there? http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/industries/music/2014/09/17/demolition-papers-filed-studio-music-row/15801701/
Phil O'Keefe
At least the Quonset Hut is still safe... hopefully they can keep Studio A intact - the musical history of that place is quite impressive.
Members sventvkg
FAIL FAIL! Everyone acts like they are so up in arms about it but the fact is, Ben could have bought it or at the very least gotten a bunch of rich music business folks together to form a company to buy and preserve it but it's obvious no one cares enough about anything other than $$! Hell Tim McGraw, Garth or Keith Urban, Brad Paisely alone could have written one check and "saved it"
Members davd_indigo
Reading the Nashville newspaper article leads me to believe there will actually be a successful movement to save the historic property. Here in the Orlando area (Winter Park) a conservation group raised $650,000 to save the "Capen House". It was cut into 2 pieces, floated across the lake on barges, and it being "stitched" back together. I don't believe the children and grandchildren of yesterday's country legends will this destruction happen. From the newspaper article: "Historic Nashville, a nonprofit preservation advocacy group is set to announce next week its annual Nashville Nine list of the city's most endangered historic buildings. Though the list has not been made public, the news announcement is scheduled to take place at Studio A". David

CMS Author MikeRivers Posted October 3, 2014 Author CMS Author Share Posted October 3, 2014 Looks like it's been saved, at least until we find out what the purchaser really wants to do with it. There were several bids at the last minute, and the owner chose to sell it to an investment company who intended to preserve it, or at least not tear it down and build condos. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2014/10/studio-a-saved-at-the-final-bell.html?page=all
Members Ernest Buckley
Nope, he would have purchased the console for himself and let the studio die.
