For those of you who are not familiar with Ryuichi Sakamoto or Yellow Magic Orchestra, check out his credits as a Composer on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0757098/

He's one of the most prolific, sought after soundtrack composers, and appeared alongside David Bowie in Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence.

Aside from that, he was in Yellow Magic Orchestra, Japan's biggest band in the 1980s, who innovated electronic music and influenced many musicians. They're also one of the most sampled groups. At the same time, he was married to jazz pianist and pop singer Akiko Yano.

I hope that he recovers and continues to create brilliant music.

Very sorry to hear about Mr Sakamoto and hope his treatment goes well and he recovers as soon as possible. thumb_zps456fc56e.gif

And sorry to hear about your kitty, Ken. I think you know I'm an animal guy. (It's people I'm iffy about.)

Of course, we're all sad about Dak's passing. He seemed like a very good guy.

None of us are here forever. We have to make the most out of every day. (I just wish I didn't love Law & Order reruns so much. I'm gonna get to the Pearly Gates and St Pete's gonna be goin', You watched those reruns HOW MANY TIMES? You DO know we don't have cable in heaven, right?)

Thank you, Blue. We finally got the biopsy back, and it confirmed everyone's suspicions, that the tumorous growth under Willie's tongue is Squamous Cell Carcinoma. We have already begun giving him steroids, but there's really nothing left to do but continue helping him eat and making sure he's comfortable. The doctor doesn't know how long he has, but Squamous Cell Carcinoma is a fast-growing, aggressive cancer, so it may be a matter of months. I know Willie is luckier than most cats. Despite having three legs for most of his life, he has had a very happy 18 years, and is a very sweet cat.

With Dak passing, and a co-worker that I wasn't really close with but I respected immensely (you know the type...maximum integrity, always brings her A game, never complains, always extremely friendly -- I virtually campaigned to get her to be voted Employee of the Year one year)....this cancer thing has really taken a toll on friends and loved ones.

Best wishes to Mr. Sakamoto for kicking this thing.

Sad to hear about Mr. Sakamoto. Here's to a speedy recovery.

I was just reading an article yesterday about the rise in throat cancer among males in recent years. Odd considering the decreasing in smoking. This was written in reference to JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon also recently being diagnosed. It seems it is most commonly caused by men contracting the Human Pappilomavirus (HPV). It seems the type that cause throat cancer is most often contracted via performing cunnilingus.
