Members Throatsinger
Here's a video by my acoustic group, the Overtone Orchestra. I'm in the middle, playing didg and throat-singing: http://www.khoomei.com/overtone/videos/eimprov.mov And here's one with the cool Swiss instrument, the Hang, Tibetan bowls, throat-singing, didg, bass flute, and more: http://www.khoomei.com/overtone/videos/hangbowls.mov Have fun,
Members Anderton
Hey Steve!!! Great to see you around. Don't anyone dare say "spam," Steve has a long history on SSS. BTW there was a Tuvan throat singing group that passed through Santa Fe a few months ago and I was able to get tickets. It rocked, well worth attending. Members Throatsinger
Gawrsh, thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I stop by to read fairly often, just haven't been posting much. The population density sure increased with the move, eh? Lately, most of my online time has been spent getting my throat-singing forum off the ground: http://khoomei.com/forum Best to all,
Members daklander
I saw throatsinger on the byline and wondered if that was you. Good to see you here Steve. Took you long enough to find us again. By the way...What's that throat lubricant you're sucking down about midway????
Members Super 8
Back tuva future. By the way, how do you make the digeridoo make sound? I've seen them, but I can't figure out how they're played.
Members Throatsinger
Dak, that's liquid teflon. All us serious throatsingers swear by it. Er, no, H2O. ;-) Super 8, the basic drone is produced by buzzing the lips, kinda like one would on a tuba. Then there are various manipulations of the tongue, cheeks, throat, vocalizations, circular breathing, etc. Very cool instruments!

Members Throatsinger
Mmm... jugs.... ;-) No, just water. Keep in mind that it was very cold and dry; winter in Minnesota eh, and the green room is next to the furnace, so backstage it's kinda like breathing in a foundry. Gotta keep the pipes moist! Members Throatsinger
Ken, it's not his fault. A Tuvan singer, Kongar-ool Ondar, released a cd a few years back with a bunch of Nashville musicians called Back Tuva Future. Not a very good cd, but it happened.
