Members amplayer
I just upgraded the front end of my DAW. I wanted the new unit to sound better, and so I thought it did. In this case, I'm pretty sure it does sound better. Still, does wanting it to sound better make it better?

Members Beck
No, it doesn't sound better; It's just different. The brain can interpret saliency as better especially right after you've read a brochure or sat through a sales pitch. For example when we began listening to CDs in the early
Members daveski
Money spent always equates to better something. How many people, especially musicians, will admit to making a spending mistake? It certainly doesn't help the resale value, or collector value, or vintage value or whatever. I will never bad mouth anything I own, until I unload it of course. I've been around long enough and tried enough gear to realize that not every old guitar is necesarily good and every tube amp is great.
Members jonmatifa
I'm the opposite, I get all hyped and excited for a piece of gear until I buy it, then I second guess it, read all of the bad reviews, compare it to what I think will "magically be better", etc. So I end up selling nearly everything, for something else ...then I do it all over again.
