Hello everyone, I was wondering how I could get instrument definition files for Pro-tools, just trying to help a buddy! :thu:

I use Sonar4.4 and I have instrument definitions for all my hardware synth form Cakewalknet, do you know where I can find similar files for Pro-tools.

Thanks, Audioicon.

It varies with the instrument.

You can get Alesis .INS files from their website. Probably the same for most other synths/keyboards.

Sonar/Cakewalk also includes a crapload of common .INS files - - try doing a search on your Cakewalk directory.

That's one hole in Tracktion that keeps it from being really friendly to Midi - - all the patch names & numbers for non-GM synths have to be entered by hand... A total mess and time-wasting PITA. I hope version 3 includes .INS file-read capability.
