Members Ani
http://www.mp3.com/news/stories/10517.html Looks like the new gig is working out for Van Halen - They've extended their tour dates well into 2008. Eddie and David must have buried the hatchet.
Members chubrocker
Or their wallets started getting FAT! I've heard that Jr. has actually been improving his bass skills and stage performance tho. Sad to not see MA on this tour. I still think having Sam and Dave tour would be the best show. First 1.5 hours be early Van Halen, then 1.5 hours of later VH with 30 minutes of encore with both of them.
Members guitarbilly74
I saw them last week at the Staples Center. They rocked, best show I've seen in ages.
Members Jotown
After the way they dissed Michael Anthony I wouldn't care if I ever saw them again. Though I did see the clip where the guitar was completely out of tune and I don't know which was weirder; hearing Eddie so completely out of tune or seeing Dave hop around on the inflatable mic/penis. Members Dylan Walters
I would love to see them, however, the venue they are playing in while visiting Portland has the worst acoustics known to man. I saw VH w/ Sammy at this venue a few years ago and the sound was by far the worst I have ever heard. As much as I'd love to see VH w/David I can't justify $80 + Ticket Master charges to see a show that I know is going to sound terrible. BTW, the last tickets I bought through TM were $60 before charges and $80with! I bought four tickets, so in the end the charges exceeded the price of one single ticket! Members Jotown
Details? All I've heard is comments here on the forum. Its real simple. They fired him after all of his years of loyalty and all of his contributions and replaced him with Wolfgang (Eddies son). Nepotism is a bad thing, but in my opinion this was just unforgivable. M. Anthony was an integral part of the sound and identity of Van Halen and he spent his entire career helping build the brand "Van Halen." Wolfgang is not a very good bass player and the harmonies that Michael Anthony added to all of the VH hits are his. Like I said; Nepotism in its worse degree. Members Jotown
Oh ya, MA is a really good bass player and really contributed a lot to VH songwriting...LOL Not sure what your saying here but; MA background vocals and his bass playing were an integral part of all the the different versions of VH. He dedicated his entire career to building Van Halen. To fire him and replace him with your son (especially when his son doesn't even play or sing as well as MA) is a {censored}ty thing to do. It would be a {censored}ty thing in any business partnership, but especially so in a band, and evern moreso when you were with that band at the very begining. I am not a big Van Halen, or Michael Anthony fan at all. But I am a fan of fairness among musicians who build a brand together and should be part of the profits as well as the joy of getting to play in concert to fans who dug your contribution to the bands music. I guess I am just not as cool as you; nor as cold hearted.:poke: But thanks anyway.
Members UstadKhanAli
Jotown, agreed. I don't know the full details of why MA is not in the band anymore, but it does seem like a {censored}ty thing for the band to do.
Members rockerdiva
Its real simple. They fired him after all of his years of loyalty and all of his contributions and replaced him with Wolfgang (Eddies son). I read that MA had already committed to the Sammy Hagar tour when they decided to do a tour. MA is on tour with Sammy now. I don't remember for sure, but I didn't get the idea that he had been "ousted", sounded to me like it was a mutual thing, MA kinda would rather be playing with Sammy right now. Yeah, I'll be dissapointed not to see MA but oh well. I'll still go see this show. It'll be nice to see DLR with them again! (I saw them 5 times with DLR and 2 times with SH. So yeah, I guess I am a fan!)
Members jackcheez
Not sure what your saying here but; MA background vocals and his bass playing were an integral part of all the the different versions of VH. Correct. Maybe even understated.
Members offramp
I watched that tuning {censored} up video, and even though I know it was an off night, I find myself having zero interest in attending the show. I think the magic has finally worn off for me; if not completely, then close.

Umm, you DO know that the video you reference was determined to be a hoax, don't you?
Members Jotown
Umm, you DO know that the video you reference was determined to be a hoax, don't you?Which part was the hoax? The guitar, the inflatable mic with the guy pretending to be David Lee Roth, or the bass player pretending to be Michael Anthony?
