Members Jeff da Weasel
You see them as low as about $3,000 - $4,000, but that's usually with some disclaimer about a reel motor not working right, a capstan that slips, yada yada.

Phil O'Keefe
I see A800's for $3-4K a lot, but not A827's. Especially not ones that are minty clean and have low head hours. If I had a spare $7K sitting around, I'd be tempted to snag that myself. That's the height of analog multitrack technology right there kids. :phil:
Members Jeff da Weasel
The best, in my mind, unquestionably. I got to know the Studer people back in the '90s. The detail that went into building their machines was beyond belief.

Members Richard King
That's the height of analog multitrack technology right there kids. That may be the case, but I don't understand why they put the ash tray right between the two reels like that. Ashes must get all over the room when they put the machine in FF or Rew. The problem with the Studer is that to really be proper it has to be matched to a Neve console, so the $6995 is just the start.

Dood, that's the Holy Water fount - In addition to having it regularly blessed (one of the often overlooked maintenance requirements for proper analog deck performance), you're also supposed to build a shrine around it. Lava lamps have become commonly accepted, but the old school folks prefer adding candles to the shrine too.
