Time to double check that bucket list to see if there are any last minute to do's you've got to get in before the big lights-out predicted by evangelical Christian preacher Harold Camping's Family Radio International.

From the LA Times -- End of the world 2011: Today is the day, Christian group says:

Preacher Harold Camping's Family Radio International posted a
on Thursday with a lengthy explanation about the Day of Judgment, which is expected to last five months. That "Day of Judgment" began on May 21 -

Here's a thought: if we stopped spreading the word about nutjobs like Camping, or notjobs like the Westboro Church, or any number of other nutjobs, even in jest, even in small forums like this one, no one would be bothered to notice when they did other nutty things that they do.

Just a thought.

That would be as boring as it seems to be sensible.

I actually think it's a good thing to make sure people know how utterly nutty the true believer syndrome makes people.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_True_Believer:

Hoffer [author of the 1951 analysis of mass movements,
The True Believer
] argues that all mass movements such as
,
, and
spread by promising a glorious future. To be successful, these mass movements need the adherents to be willing to sacrifice themselves and others for the future goals. To do so,
mass movements often glorify the
and devalue the present
. Mass movements
appeal to frustrated people
who are dissatisfied with their current state, but are capable of a strong belief in the future. As well, mass movements
appeal to people who want to escape a flawed self by creating an imaginary self and joining a collective whole
. Some categories of people who may be attracted to mass movements include
people, misfits, and people who feel thwarted in their endeavors. Hoffer quotes extensively from leaders of the
and
in the early part of the 20th Century, to demonstrate, among other things, that they were competing for adherents from the same pool of people predisposed to support mass movements. Despite the two parties' fierce antagonism, they were more likely to gain recruits from their opposing party than from moderates with no affiliation to either.

Sound familiar?

I just wish there would be some real universal justice levied. Like, if it isn't really the end of the world, {this time} howabout we end his world {and all his radio tv stations,} for lying to the masses on a grand scale.

Intentional Blasphemy on a global scale deserves to be punished by death.

So... you wanna go all Old Testament on his ass?

:D

I wonder what Time zone the end of the earth is supposed to occur. Its morning here and nothings happened.

Does it mean some countries will have a to wait longer than others or some sooner get it sooner because its only

day on one side of the globe at the time. In fact who invented the calander, Man or God? And how accurate is it?
