A real light weight question:Recording/mixing software recommendations for 8 tracks?

I recently bought an Olympus LS-100 8 track recorder. I'm beginning to have fun being able to move it around so easily on a table top tripod. Up to now I've only been recording myself playing piano on a Sony PCM D50.

So....I'm looking to find software for mixing just 8 tracks. I don't plan to do loops or samples, just sounds made from my hands and mouth. Most of the time I'll probably only be doing 2-4 tracks.

I want something intuitive and between $100-200. And also with the ability to use with other interfaces I might have in the future.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,

Dave

Reaper would be fine for that, and is easily within your budget. And that's a really good DAW, regardless of budget anyway.

I wouldn't get too hung up on 8 tracks or whatever. Many DAWs go past that, but if you don't want more than 8 tracks in a session, simply don't create more than 8. I have lots of sessions in Pro Tools where I only use 2 or 3 tracks.
