Members rasputin1963
Been experimenting with ADOBE AUDITION CS5's vocal extraction feature, which they call Center Channel Extractor. Being called that is a misnomer, because it can extract nearly any voice from a mix, regardless of its location in the stereo field.I'm writing all this because this tool is not your grand-dad's vocal extractor: this thing is AMAZING. You can really import, say, fully mixed recordings from the 60's and 70's, for example, and with a little work, isolate each of the band's sounds.... giving you the raw tracks to make, say, a wholly new remix, to say nothing of EQ'ing and tweaking and mashing-up these individual voices.Anyway, quite impressive. Just thought I'd share with you guys. ras Footnote: There is a modern DJ from Provincetown who has, for the last few years, been doing these stunning club remixes of old 1960's recordings. I actually thought he must've had access to the master tracks or something, so good were his voice isolations. Now I'm pretty sure I know his trick. Phil O'Keefe
Interesting. It works equally well for extracting instrumental, as well as vocal parts?
Members rasputin1963
Some recordings yield up their "tracks" better than others. i think you have best luck with records mixed Mid/Side.
