Members LCK
So I came up with this song late last year, and have been fussing with it occasionally till now, and I think I've got it pretty well cooked. "Keep on Dreaming" Intro.I admit that I’ve been absent-mindedsince the day you decided we're through.Feels a bit like my heart has been blinded.I can't see anything but you… 1If I’m unaware it’s started raining,if I leave my cell phone in a cab,if I hear a barkeep keep explaining“You already paid your tab,”it’s probably trueI’ve been dreaming of you.Well, what else can I dobut keep on dreaming? 2If I don’t have the slightest inklingthat I might hum a constant tune,if all the stars seem to be twinklingon a sunny afternoon(repeat refrain) (instrumental) 3.If friends all ask have I been eating,if I forget to walk the dog,and if my heart gets tired of beatingand my mind’s a constant fog…(repeat refrain) CodaFor what good is life withoutsomeone to dream about? For me that someone is you. Members LeonardScaper
I, for one, want to hear you sing this one, Lee. I always worry about dating a possible classic song with references to current technology.....but I guess cell phones are here to stay. If I hear a barkeep keep explaining.......I think that line is going to sound fabulous.

Members LCK
Latest version. And yes, I need to post a recording of the song.... "Keep on Dreaming" Intro.I admit that I’ve been absent-mindedsince the day you decided we're through.Feels a bit like my heart has been blinded.I can't see anything but you… 1If I can't tell that it’s been raining,'f I leave my cell phone in a cab,'f I hear a barkeep keep complaining,“You already paid your tab,”it’s probably trueI’ve been dreaming of you.Well, what else can I dobut keep on dreaming? 2'f I haven’t got the slightest inklingthat I forgot to lace my shoes, and if I hear pianos tinklingbut they only play the blues...(repeat refrain) (instrumental) 3.If friends all fret that I'm not eating,if I forget to walk the dog,and if my heart gets sick of beatingand my mind’s a constant fog…(repeat refrain) CodaFor what good is life withoutsomeone to dream about? For me that someone is you. Members mbfrancis
Some really lovely lines here, Lee, works great as is. V2 is perfect. My only thoughts: I agree that there is tension between the consciously classic/retro language "we're through/barkeep/inkling" and newer elements like cell phone. Maybe add a few *more*modern touches so it becomes more deliberate? Don't think there's any way to address this, but I wish there was a way you could get through the chorus without using the word 'dream' until the title. Just feels the setup to the title could maybe be stronger. (I could be wrong.) Feels like the intro should not reference "seeing" nothing but you, but rather "dreaming" of you, to send us into the song. But that means the blinded line doesn't work. Lovely stuff. Example: "It's probably true, I've been thinking of you. But what else can I do but keep on dreaming..." I think "dreaming" has to be repeated.
