Carlsbro Passive PA System And Power Amps

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could guide me in the right direction.

I currently have a carlsbro PA system consisting of 2 carlsbro (heaAdline series) 15" bass speakers and 2 carlsbro 12" top speakers. They are all passive and I currently have them running through a peavey 2600 power amp.

Each speaker is 500W RMS, equalling a total of 1000W a side.

The problem is that I dont think that they are filling their full potential. Because I used to have an old 800W PA and upgraded to this carlsbro system, it just dosent seem to be a great deal louder, if not any louder at all.

Someone said that it may have something to do with the ohms of the speakers and that of the power amp. The Top speakers are 8ohms and the bass speakers are 4ohms. I have them daisychained (in to basses then out to tops) and I think that 4ohms +8ohms=2.??ohms. The power amp is 4ohms minimum.

I have asked around and someone in a shop said that you only need to think about the ohms of the bass speakers when dealing with power amps and only using 1 power amp. A friend said that I should have the basses and tops running through separate power amps.

Please help me get the volume I need!
