1971 (made in Fall 1971 according to date stamp inside guitar) Harmony Sovereign model H-164. Solid spruce top, solid birch back and sides. This is a SWEET vintage acoustic guitar. It has a had a neck re-set recently (an expensive $150-250 repair, depending on where you get the work done) and is ready to play. Action is LOW, and very easy to play. Truss rod is in tact and works perfectly. Fantastic sound coming from this vintage piece. Guitar is in great playing shape. Pickguard is long gone, but looks fine as is I think. Cosmetically, it has some finish chips and scratches, but its really in fantastic shape for its age. Original bone nut and saddle. No cracks or repairs, except for the neck re-set (believe me, this is a GREAT thing... these guitars usually are not playable without a neck re set).

This is a rare model, and was only made for one year by Harmony, in Chicago, IL, USA. If you are unaware of the impact Harmony guitars have had on guitar playing in America, do some research. Most kids began on old Harmony guitars in the 60s and 70s, and while they were not Gibsons and Fenders back in the day, they have an excellent reputation now (particularly when compared to the overseas junk being sold every day in the USA these days). The Sovereign line was the top of the line Solid Wood acoustic guitar line up from Harmony.

Enough with my rant. I don't want to sell it, but some of my gear has got to go. I AM NOT A DEALER--I just buy way too many guitars and I have a vacation in exactly 8 days... need the cash. Please ask any questions.

Fixed and pictures are up. Guitar is in good shape overall, with some missing finish where neck was re-set, as well as some scratches here and there. But it PLAYS GREAT, which is rare for these old Harmony guitars. Most of them are thrown in dumpsters instead of having a neck set, because they're not that valuable. However, they sound just as good as guitars 4 or 5 times this price.
