This era D-16 is light weight guitar, with forward-shifted, scalloped X-bracing and dovetail neck joint, a truly traditional Martin in all sense of the word. This guitar was essentially a Vintage Series D-18V, a decade or so before they started building the 18V. Starting in 1991 D-16H was produced, and for a few years thereafter.
