Members FitchFY
To file under "KISS ideas" (that's "keep it simple, stupid"), I pack my floor tom legs into the case with the drum. They normally travel fine, but I often get a wee bit concerned about them banging around in there. KISS solution: stick the legs in a paper towel roll tube. Keeps them together and off the shell. Win!

Members FitchFY
I've always been hesitant to put floor tom legs in the hardware bag for fear of them getting bent. Hmmm.
Members 1001gear
No, a bag just for the legs which you then pop into the tom case. Or better a tom case with a compartment for legs.
