Members mtnb1kr
Are their any entry level medium scale basses available? I'm thinking in the $200 range like the Ibanez GSR200's. I'm a smaller handed player who wants a bass just to fool araound on and do some recording so I don't want to spend alot. I've found cheaper short scale ones like an action bass by Cort for $169 but I've heard bad things about short scale on the forum. 34" seams big to me so I thought I'd split the difference with a 32" scale.HELP
Members illidian
I think that finding a cheap 32" bass will be difficult. To find one that plays well will be near impossible for that price. Essex has 34" basses and 30.5" basses. Everyone here raves about them, you may want to order one at http://rondomusic.net . You could easily get a decent bass for under $200 there, and maybe even with a case.
Members mtnb1kr
I've seen the Rondo offerings but I'm not a big Fender style guy. Does anyone have an opinion on this bass? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7322489429&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 It is a 30" scale. What are the bad things assosiatted with short scale? They don't seam to be real popular on this forum.
Members The Insomniac
I play a Yamaha 32" Motion B bass from the 80's. It's very thin at the nut and has a very short head stock. Very good build quality. The can be found on ebay from time to time and sometimes they go cheep. edit: here is a pick of the Yamaha

Members DougH
I'm interested in getting a 30.5 scale bass too, what is so bad about them. I know scale affects tone, but is it really that bad.
