Members mfergel Posted March 28, 2011 Members Share Posted March 28, 2011 I'm a guitar player so some of this might sound like a stupid question. I bought some Dimarzio Ultra pickups. Humbucker design with a coil under each pairing of strings. Not really a humbucker I guess then but noise canceling qualities. Anyways, I know humbuckers traditionally sound better with 500k pots but do these really qualify as humbuckers in that sense? Should I use 250k pots or a different value all together??? Personally I wouldn't bother changing them unless they are already getting scratchy or if you are wanting a slightly brighter tone. I don't see the point when bass amps have tone controls. I'll probably replace the pots as it's a Rondo SX bass so I'm sure they are far from great pots in there. Unfortunately I have plenty of 500k pots in the house.
