Members gonzobassman
I have a tube amp (the Fatboy) that was a complete ground up custom build (by an engineer friend of mine) that I absolutely love.I quit using it a little over a year ago when I bought my current GK rig. At the last two rehearsals I broke out the "Fatboy Neo".It is a 4-10 cabinet built with a slant front design (Eminance 10s,same ones Avatar uses),and I really like the sound of this box.I'm beginning to think it(the speaker box)is more responsible for the sound I get with that rig than the head!!! Going to re-tube the head, and plug the GK 4-10 neo into it,and see whats up.Will let you guys know, and maybe even post a pic or two.The GK head into this cabinet just has a real bright almost "tubey" sound to it.I can't get that tone out of my GK box with or without the horn on(there is no horn in the Fatboy). Members Perfessor
I think the tubes make a big difference. My Carvin w/the tube preamp makes a big difference in the sound. Go tube!
Members gonzobassman
Yea,I thought the tubes were the sound of this amp,but that cabinet just has a real warm vintage sound(and look) to it.I was real surprised by it.
