Your thoughts on brass saddles for bass?

Brass everything was hot 40 years ago. One of my basses has a brass nut. There were brass bridges. I've never tried brass saddles, but I wouldn't expect them to make an audible difference. I don't believe that brass has any special acoustic properties.

While I have never tried brass saddles on a bass, I wouldn't expect them to "kill the tone" - they might change it slightly (as I feel they do when used on a Telecaster), but probably not in a negative way... although all things tone are, as always, subjective.

On a Tele, brass gives you a bit more sustain and a bit of a richer and meatier sound than steel saddles do. It's a small but noticeable change. I suspect they would have similar effect on bass, but without trying it and doing comparisons, that's pure conjecture on my part. :idk: FWIW, I definitely prefer the aftermarket brass compensated saddles I installed vs the stock threaded steel saddles on both my Telecaster and my Duo Sonic II.
