Never any type of crashes.

I don't understand why others complain. The longest I waited on a load was like 3 seconds and that was huge Multi with multiple patches. Most patches load almost instantly.
Installation was very fast considering its 50 gig. This plug- in was designed for those PROFESSIONALS who are serious about composition and sound. I read a quote from a complainer that said " most of the sounds are really unusable fro most forms of music". Nothing could be further from the truth. I see using the traditional patches in just about every genre imaginable. Omni' is also NOT a memory and CPU hog unless you are using a substandard system that Spectra' doesn't recommend. Considering its depth and programmability Its by far the easiest and most intuitive software I have ever used. It paid for itself in the first day.

Its the best $450 I have ever spent ( one months electric bill).
Sound Quality: The sonic quality is unmatched by any synth I have heard- hardware or software.
I dont know how they did it but even the CS-80 patches have hardly any noise in them.
All of the sounds are "buttery" smooth, round, detailed, and dimensional. Remarkable programming and sampling.

Within minutes I was creating Multis and dropping in sounds on a project I was working on- clients were VERY happy.

I was working in 24/96kHz, no problems
Ease of Use: The folks at Spectrasonics keep getting better and better. Omni' was a breeze to install. Each DVD took about 15 minutes to install. So in 2 hours I was making music with this fantastic plug-in. MOTU DP immediately registered it as an "instrument"- no problems whatsoever.

Authorization was a snap- click on the link, enter the challenge code, paste the response- and bam! I was in business.
There's a video as well as manual tutorial included for installation/authorization but neither was needed as its totally intuitive and logical.
Reviewer Background: 0;30 years in the biz, owned over 100 keys and synths, studio owner, player/programmer on over 60 major label albums.

If these are going on your meter bridge shelf (horizontal placement) you will need one that is at least 15" deep, 9' long and bear weight of close to 200 lbs.

Cabling:4 standard XLR and 3 standard power cables.

On the mains there are plenty of dip switch settings for all of the separate components as well as the baffling. The sub has a fully implemented crossover section.

The mains MAY be used as stand-alones with a separate set of XLR inputs for this feature.

It is highly recommended you perform a sound calibration test.

You will most likely want to implement a dedicated voltage regulated and power conditioned system as they draw significant amperage (with the sub active and at louder volumes)

Sound Quality: This system is mid-main in terms of size, and air movement.
Its main application is for post production houses but it still performs very well as a standard studio reference monitor.
At low volumes it maintains great detail and accuracy.
At full volume the sounds is huge, easily filling a 600 square foot control room.
The bass is well defined, the sweet-spot wide and the imaging superb.
The overall sound is on the warm side, never harsh, but not "hype" either. Listening at loud levels over a lengthy time yielded no fatigue.

Overall Rating: This, like the Virus Polar, is a boutique synth. It's VERY stylistic and original.
I don't like to compare it to the V-Synth XT (which I also own) because to do so would be unfair. I evaluate it on its own merit. It has unusual fidelity that I cannot liken to any other synth and I've owned just about all of them (well over a hundred), but I immediately fell in love with the sound and the approach to its programming, much more than say the Oasys.
This a new synth with its head towards the future. With that being said there are things I don't like: FX effect are not independent of splits. The D-beam, though improved, reacts to other units in its proximity. The bender needs to have a negative "pull" ability. (after all they are touting this is a uniquely expressive synth). Transpose buttons should be next to the assignable switches (there's room), Saving "tones" is confusing. Independent LFO and envelope control is extremely limited. The screen savers totally suck ass.
I wish there were more modeled resonators and AP synthesis choices. The touch screen isn't very responsive. Despite all of its "hipness" the unit still feels like a toy. I wish they had taken it to the next level!!! Pro level please!!
On the plus side: I don't know of synth that sounds remotely like this one. There are a few quirks to get around but even they are pretty easy. If you are a "modern" synthesist, intent on making a statement, this should definitely be in your arsenal.For the money, its a winner and I rarely say that.
Features: Real time and Step sequencing are simple to use
Sound Quality: Sampled waveforms are marginal at best BUT thats not important here.
I wouldn't use it for classical.
Solid FX, maybe not on par with the Korg stuff.
Its extremely responsive.
I have not dove into aftertouch yet
Reliability/Durability: Seems typical well built Roland hardware
Very trustworthy.
Ease of Use: Version 1.03
Presets sound pretty lame for the most part and not indicative of this instrument.
Editing is a breeze

I'd like to think that I as a programmer who worked extensively on a Fairlight, Synclav, large subtractive modulars, and true FM, would be able to tackle the Oasys with reasonable aplomb, but alas, I can't. I find there is no fun working on the Oasys.It demands that I get into ITS head instead of creating out of my own. There are days when I dread turning it on, because I know I will waste time doing the simplest of task that have been embedded in sub pages with dozens of abbreviations(despite having the largest touch screen ever on a synth) and indegenous terminology.It has sadly been reduced to just another MIDI module at this point.The Oasys presumes a great deal.
Features: Apparently the newer OS adds polyphony. I think any OS upgrades should have concentrated on the user interface, which unfortunately,is exclusionary and arrogant to presume I have time to learn a Korg-only dialog.
Sound Quality: The "back check" is obnoxiously slow. You cant play fast repeated notes at all- it simply won't respond.
Reliability/Durability: It crashed on me the 1st time in over a year- note hangs switching from patch to patch- in local MIDI mode.
Ease of Use: 1.1
This is a follow up review I penned a year ago.
Customer Support: The upgrade from 1.0 to 1.1 took 3 hours of my time. There was extensive protocal you had to follow- sort of a drag.
