Overall Rating: Playing 15 years. Like everyone else that has played for any length of time...I've tried a lot of guitars out. Bought/sold a few too. :smileyhappy: Own or owned: Charvel, Ibanez, Hamer, Fender, Washburn, Jackson, Warmoth, Carvin, Dean...and a no name P.O.S. tele copy.

It won't be stolen or lost...what a horrible thing to even suggest Mr. Guitar Rating Web Page Template Guy! I think I'd come after you seeing as how you just cursed me and all. :smileywink:

Yeah it compares to other guitars...I saved for a whole summer to get a Charvel model 6 as a young teenager...now I have the vastly superior version of that guitar! :smileyhappy:

I really just like the whole package of the guitar. Neck, materials used, tone, playability, looks...it's a quality product.
Features: 2007 USA Jackson SL2H MAH Soloist with a clear coat (natural finish). It has a orig. floyd, it and all other knobs, pickup rings, switches are chrome. Bought it off ebay in drop dead mint condition...the user installed EMG 81/85 humbuckers.

Heavy duty 3 way switch with a single tone and a single volume.

The neck is fast and thinner than a tyical "c" Fender shape...but thicker than a Ibanez Wizard shape. 24 frests (jumbo) and mop inlays on an ebony board.

1/8" flamed maple top over a mahogany body and neck. REALLY a nice flame maple that was matched very well.
Sound Quality: I like rock. From the late 60's to today. A good amount of metal too. This is a fantastic guitar for rock/metal/anything. I've seen them used by jazz cats too. Your amp is coloring your sound a lot more than the guitar anyways...speaking of which...

This guitar sounds HUGE through my Marshall. (TSL 60 head w/1936 cab) Harmonics sing, really rich tone when used with distortion...also sounds great cleaned up. Not noisy at all...overall just a great guitar really.
Reliability/Durability: Well I have only had this guitar a day now...but it's rock solid being a neck-through and all.

Came with Dunlop straplocks...I put these on all my guitars...and you should too. (They are really easy to swap straps, take off/put on, etc...and your guitar is a wee bit "safer")
Purchased From: minty off ebay...got an absolute STEAL! Half price on a mint 2007 Soloist...Noice!

Overall Rating: Been playing for about 16 years. I own a Carvin DC127m, a warmoth parts-o-caster (think early VH days) a Marshall TSL 60 head with matching 2x12 cab, A Vox Tonelab and a beater acoustic.

I highly recommend this guitar. There isn't that much to a guitar...good build...good wood...good hardware...good pickups...good features. This is a guitar that has all of the above. Definately worth it if you are looking for a reliable p90 with some balls that won't cost you 2k. I got a great deal on a store closeout model but even at full retail there isn't too much to compete with it.
Features: Made in Korea. Dual seymour duncan p-90 pups. There are pull/push pots for coil splitting. Gold Carved Top with mahogany back (clear) Maple cap. Aged binding on body, headstock and neck. Grover 18:1 tuners. Pearl inlays on a rosewood fretboard. I'd guess medium jumbo frets. Neck is a good size for me and I do not have giant mitts. The shorter scale helps too. All in all high quality parts throughout. Case seems pretty standard.
Sound Quality: I bought this guitar to work on a bit of a new style (slide) but the action is so good and the p90s more aggressive than I had imagined...I'm thinking that this might make a great rock axe too. I play through a Marshall TSL 60 head and a Marshall 1936 2x12 cab. I use a Vox Tonelab for chorus/reverb and/or as a preamp.

The seymour duncan p90s are nice! The neck is quite a bit bassier than the bridge pup which is my favorite. The neck seems to sound better for non rock type cleans...The bridge is aggressive and sounds absolutely great distorted. They sound more like hums than singles.

I haven't fully put the Washburn through it's paces yet...but as I keep saying what suprised me right off the bat was how good this thing sounded with the classic Marshall distortion sound. The bridge in clean sounded very clear and hot. Great note definition. Guitar even sounds great unplugged.
Reliability/Durability: The guitar seems pretty solid. The parts are quality. The finish is poly so the main positive attribute of poly is it's durability. I'd play out with it. I always bring a second guitar though...even if I do not use the 2nd...it's better to have it and not need it...then to need it and not have it.

Carvin DC127m (great)
Ibanez USA Custom
Charvel Predator
USA Dean pro Hardtail

This and the Carvin are the best guitars that I own. The Dean sounds better but I really like the tung oil finish on the Carvin neck and the 24 frets and neck through design. It's a toss up for now. I'd recommend either in a heartbeat. I've played a TON of guitars and these are the winners so far.

I'm going to give the Dean a 10 as I got a great deal on a basically unplayed 2004 hardtail. $400 less than what some online sites want these days! My Carvin was $880 new. It really goes to show...if you look hard enough...there are FANTASTIC axes to be had for less than $900.
Features: 2004 USA Dean Professional Hardtail.

Carved mahogany body with set mahogany neck. 22 frets. Abalone and silver inlay at 12th fret. Small abalone dot markers for the rest of the neck. Rosewood fretboard, satin nickle hardware, Grover tuners, Seymour Duncan covered pickups. (JB and 59) Satin lacquer finish. Soft V shaped neck.

It's a looker...the mahogany looks beautiful and has a warm rich tone. My only gripes are that I'd of preferred a 24 fret model to also have been available and I prefer Sperzel locking tuners. (picky I know but this is a very nice guitar and I feel Sperzels hold tune beter)
Sound Quality: The sound is really a selling feature for this axe. Warm, lush tones that are full and "alive" just seem to flow out...I've recorded it kinda bebop jazzy and I've also ripped out some thrash. The guitar is definately versatile!

I've played it through my Vox tonelab into a computer and into a Carvin MTS 3200 head w/2x12 cabinet. I found that the pu's are of a higher gain than I'm used to but...they respond really well and are definately dynamic.
Reliability/Durability: Well I've already swapped the standard strap buttons for locking Dunlops. (this is a nice guitar...I recommend that you do the same)

Everything as previously noted...is rock solid.
