That area of Hall E was heaven if you like nice acoustics - between the Breedlove, Collings and Santa Cruz booths, there was enough high end acoustics to please just about anyone. And if they didn't do it for you, Martin and Taylor (and others) were upstairs... :smileyhappy:

You're very welcome. Thanks for looking. :smileyhappy: I hope that this thread and the pictures and comments gives you guys a "feel" of what it's like to go to a NAMM show, as well as a few of the things that I found particularly interesting. While its literally impossible for any one person - or even a dozen people - to see and hear everything at NAMM, I really try to grab the stuff that interests me, and hopefully that will interest some of you too. While I do have to stop and discuss business occasionally (arranging for gear reviews and so forth) and get demonstrations, I try to keep moving and grab as much as I can; that way, you guys can scroll through the thread and, via the pictures, kind of "walk through" the NAMM show yourself - or at least parts of it. While the sheer volume of pictures prevents me from giving you a full description of each and every item, hopefully if something grabs YOUR eye, there's enough info there that you can do a Google search and go to the manufacturer's website to get the details. Of course, if you have any questions about anything, I am here and will do my best to try to answer them. And finally, if I missed something that you wanted to see, my humble apologies. :smileysurprised:

Orange had some nice amps on display too, and not just the "computer in an amp style case" Orange OPC

Yeah, just a wee bit Irish - as my grandmother says "as Irish as Paddy's pig".

This thread is about a Fender I restored / modified last year, with the help of my friend Dennis, who is a master builder at the Fender Custom Shop.

When I saw that Strat at NAMM, it kind of reminded me of that. :smileyhappy:

The frets and saddles are made out of glass. It's supposed to be quite durable and wear resistant, and increase sustain. The sustain seemed to be pretty darned good on the guitar that he demoed for me, and when I played it, it seemed to be a nice guitar - I thought the neck was a bit large for my personal preferences, but I have fairly small hands.

I don't think all of the 650 models are currently in production. Unless I'm mistaken, those are Model 650C Colorados, which I believe are still being made.

I don't think Rickenbacker has changed their booth layout for 20 years. I have a theory that it just stays set up like that year after year with a sheet over it during boat shows etc.

Re: Phil O'Keefe's NAMM Show Photo Diary and Blog...

I don't know if it's been twenty years, but it has been the same booth for a while now, hasn't it? :smileyhappy: And why not? :idk: I like the design... it's open and it displays their guitars in a nice, classy way. It's easy to walk through, and it is easy to see "into" as you're walking past - which encourages people to go into it for a closer look. And trade show booths cost big money, so as long as it's still working, I don't think John Hall wants to pump a bunch of money into a new one. His guitars still are made in the USA, and still sell like hotcakes; it seems like they're always running at capacity and / or are backordered, so in his shoes, I doubt I'd be inclined to pump a ton of money into a new trade show booth either. :smileywink:

Great job, Phil!! Now all I have to do is read your thread to see the stuff I missed :thu:
There are now eight music videos posted on my YouTube channel, including a cover of "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," which joins "Little Pieces", "Black Market Daydreams," and "When the Grid Goes Down" (complete with disturbing video )
