Way back in the mid to late 1970's, Aphex created the very first Aural Exciter. There were only five of them made, and they were not sold - you had to rent the use of them by the minute. Apparently, only two of them still survive, and Waves tracked them down and modeled them - so now, for the first time, the original Aphex Aural Exciter is available to everyone without having to rent it by the minute.

Avid's new Venom virtual analog synth ($599 MSRP / $499 "street") features 3 oscillators per each of its 12 voices, a large wavetable (including drum sounds), 49 full sized keys, and a edgy, aggressive and very attractive sound. I was able to play with one for a while, and really liked it a lot. Expect a Pro Review with Craig Anderton soon.
And yes, you can use it as an audio interface AND also run external audio through the synth for processing too!
