I'm surprised nobody has brought up the Vox Classic Plus heads and combo. This is exactly what I've been waiting for from Vox. An AC-30 style clean/crunch channel with a moderately high gain lead channel. IIRC the Vox guy designing their amps was with Marshall for many years so he should be able to come up with a decent lead channel. Was there any buzz about these at the show?

The guys I talked to who actually attended the show were VERY stoked about these amps. Obviously I could be wrong, but I think that unless you're a Vox fan, these amps are probably just a big question mark because most people stop at the AC30. So that's probably why your question is being overwhelmed by deafening silence.

I think the Classic Plus series is cool, but I have no need for a 100W or even a 50W head with a "rock" channel. The AC30CC delivers all the tones (and volume) I could ever need.

I saw them, and they looked cool, although they didn't look like a Vox amp (at least the Vox amps from the old days). I'm not sure, but they're so new, that maybe they haven't actually hit the stores yet, so that would explain why the buzz hasn't started yet. I picked up a new Vox catalog while I was looking over their amps, and it's more than your typical catalog... it pretty much tells the Vox amp story, and shows ALL the new amps, along with all the originals through the years. It's a must-have for all Vox amp fans. The dealers should have these catalogs soon. FWIW.

Wow, the "John" guy in that trib band is uncanny. And yes' the Peavey did look goofy.

Vox didnt seem to be used much by bands back in the day....TV bands like the raiders gave them alot of publicity. The vox combo organ was pretty well the state of the art for portable combo organs. The amps of choice always seemed to be fender piggy backs. bassmans, bandmasters, showmans , dual showmans. The solid states were the cutting edge in 1970 and alot of players were trading off their tube amps to go solid state.. kinda seems funny now . rat

What about the beatles and queen? From what I hear voxs were vary popular back in the day specifically with the british invasion

I hadn't even heard of it till I read this thread. Here's the info on the Vox web site http://www.voxamps.co.uk/classicplus/ I am interested although I wish they stuck with the classic EL84 config. Something like a Budda SD30 would be nice - the old Vox classic sound + a more "modern" sounding channel. At any rate it should be interesting. Thanks for posting.
