I thought the reason the Bassman pedal may have not sounded so great was the JC-120 the guy was playing it through.

Well I've got a '64 Deluxe that has been my main amp for about 5 years, and I thought the pedals sounded awful.

So, you played it through headphones -- was it going through some kind of practice amp, or just straight to headphones? I was wondering if they work for direct recording as well as through an amp.
Well, different strokes, as they say. I heard the pedals demo'ed with Strats, and they sounded like the real deal. When I was there, the place was crowded with people listening, nodding and smiling. I walked over to the demo wall too, and strapped on a Strat and headphones, and played through the pedals myself. To me, they got everything right. Anyone interested in owning one of these Fender amps should go try the pedals and decide themselves whether they still want to spend a couple grand on an amp or gas money on one of these pedals.
