Puts me in mind of a bit from the bible where one fella was in heaven with God. He saw someone he knew suffering in hell. So he told God he would change places with him. Done. Then he saw his friend enjoying it with God and saw his friend was not going to stand up for him. He pleaded to God and God had a little word with him.  I will encourage others to seek God. I will let God decide who shall have eternal life and who shall not.

I'm not equating him with the other atheists in this thread. They believe what they believe and have every right to argue it with believers. I'm not religious, so I'm not offended. I'm not saying that any body would get to the point where they are willing to sacrifice their eternal life for others - just that it is only when they reach that point that belief is anything but self serving.  No ifs no buts I believe for the sake of eternal life.  Until, that is,  you are willing to reject eternal life for some one else.
