We just need some sensible gun control measures, just like Japan has.

Of course it is dumb! That's the whole point. Obama wants to find a solution to gun violence based on what happened, but every one of his solutions is going bassackwards to what he himself wants for the protection of his own children.

Nobody really wants him to be without SS protection. But what they expect, and the white house now has to respond to thanks to getting enough signatures, is a reply. And what might that reply be? That gun free zones are not effective when it comes to his family?

That will show him to be the hypocrite so many of us know he is.

Exactly. This is actually far more "common sense" than almost all of Obamas "Solutions" to gun violence. It sure makes more sense than banning rifles that are involved in less murders than Clubs and Hammers.

Did it ever occur to your little brain Ed (Oyaji)  that if all the guns had been banned then perhaps Obama wouldn't need armed personnel? Did it ever occur to your little brain that there ARE people out there who hate him because he DOES have some black in him and some of THOSE idiots ARE armed? Sounds to me like you want him to be the first to give up his armed guards weapons. The guy was elected by the majority of Americans to run the US. That makes him just a little more important then you.

The majority of gun free school zones (which I assume the original petition is about) are not federal.  They are state and local.  There was a federal gun free school zone that was invalidated in the '90s by the Supreme Court for overreaching the commerce clause power, but the successor to that law is valid under the Raich decision that Scalia joined in.

In any event, Obama can't institute any new gun free zones without legislation from Congress.
