What fresh Orwellian hell is this? Steel yourselves, kids. President Obama dared to stand in front of children — “human shields,” according to Rush Limbaugh – when discussing gun control measures. Limbaugh straightened him out by making fun of those kids. (Weepy voice: “They don’t want to die.” Then he simulated crying.) Rush also threw his weight behind the NRA’s flying too close to the sun ad which called the president an “elitist hypocrite” for having a security detail while you don’t: “I’m gonna have a different set of rules for my kids.” This is what the left does. They assign rules for everybody to live under, and they exempt themselves on the basis of class. They’re better than you, or they’re smarter, or they’re more capable. See, you can’t make the wise decisions you need to make because you’re not really good. You’re not a decent person. You’re not qualified. You’re not smart enough. They have to control things for you in order to save you from yourself, to protect you, your kids. You don’t have the smarts to do that. Another Matt Yglesias tweet: “Sorry[,] haters, a kidnapping of the First Kids would be a way bigger deal than the kidnapping of your kids.” So, you see? As far as the left is concerned, the number one, most important thing is the state and the people who run the state. That’s what’s more important. Not you. Not the individual. This is what’s happened. The relationship between citizen and state, which has always been unique and exceptional in this country, is being turned into what it’s always been everywhere in the world, “Citizen? (Raspberry)! State? Everything.” http://www.salon.com/2013/01/16/rush_mocks_kids_fo
What a great guy.

The bit about our "leaders" wanting a separate set of rules for themselves, or at least an exemption from following the ones they make for us, is valid.
Rush is a worthless gas bag with no socially redeeming qualities, but that doesn't mean he's always wrong, just usually.
In that one aspect of his otherwise usual stupidity he did hit the nail right on the head.

Well, it's not just the lefties who did this. How about the HSBC bankers who won't go to jail despite all the money laundering they were just caught for?
As for Obama's kids, well, it seems to me that since they are at much more risk than the kids of those whose parents are not powerful leaders, it makes sense to me that they should get much more security. All kinds of terrorists would probably target the president's family--or family members of other US leaders--so given that they are at higher risk, they get more security. Similarly, there ARE armed guards at schools in urban areas where there are higher crime rates, because the students are at higher risk. A school like Sandy Hook on the other hand was in a very low risk neighborhood. Not everybody in these low risk zones wants for their kids to walk by armed guards all the time. ...
Anywho, most leaders and powerful people are hypocrites in this regard. They think other people outta follow rules that they themselves are above. Perhaps all people are hypocritical like this in some regard.

Two things:
1. When i first saw the thread title, I thought it was the band Rush, and i was quite surprised. Then i read it, and now it makes sense.
2. Limbaugh REALLY hit the nail on th head when he said this to people who listen to him: "See, you can’t make the wise decisions you need to make because you’re not really good. You’re not a decent person. You’re not qualified. You’re not smart enough."

No, that is total bullshit. Rush has a security detail, too. And does Rush want to pay the taxes to put security guards in every school? answer: Hell no.
So he is the hypocrit, here.
Again.
As usual.
And he is wrong.
Way wrong.
Again.
As usual.
Does anyone seriously not understand that the Presidnt's family is a high value target? This cheap ploy by the NRA betrays their moronic orthodoxy.
Armed guards in every school.
No new taxes.
OK,
F.U. NRA and Rush, too.

Rush being a hypocrite doesn't make Obama, or anybody else who values their children over mine, any less of one.
"Spree" killers who go to schools don't consider the "value" of their targets, they don't even know who they're shooting.
What people like Diane Feinstein, and in this case the President, are saying is that they're more valuable to society and more in need of these things, while they reduce or block our right to have the same sort of protections.
Obama's kids go to a school with armed guards that I probably couldn't afford for my kid, and they have a Secret Service contingent at taxpayer expense that picks them up and drops them off.
Do they leave their guns in the car and respect the "gun free zone" of the school? Do they have Winchester lever action rifles and Colt Peacemakers so that they don't have semi-auto weapons or "large capacity" magazines?
Of course not. They're special.

"More" security, sure. Nobody's suggesting the secret service for every school. But it is hypocritical to count on guns to protect your kids while resisting armed protection for average american kids.

It's always unnerving to agree with Rush on anything, but I agree with you completely on this.

Yeah, a funny thing happens to people who listen to what he actually says, rather than what is said about him. It's this terrible crisis where you have to choose between leftie coolness and being right.

Rush Limbaugh doesn't want to die, either. But that doesn't keep him from mocking kids who don't want to die either. Does the gasbag really think they ought to WANT to die? Sounds like he was the school bully.

Just the opposite. Cape Girardeau High School- my sister graduated Class of 1969 (which was either the same year, or a year ahead, of good old fatass). He was, rather, the fat obnoxious social outcast that everyone hated and made fun of.
Which is not surprising.

the limbaugh wing no longer controls the GOP. he still has a sizable fan base though, enough to earn a comfortable living riling them up on various hot-button issues.
