If you beat up someone without a reason of self defense, you go to jail for a long fucking time.
These bullshit feelgood bills are designed to create special protected groups.
Exactly, the thing that this country is supposed to be against.
I'm not pro abuser here by any means. I believe predators should spend their lives being treated as prey.
Not just when Brucey bitch slaps Steve.
I love it when people try and argue that extending existing protections to same sex couples is creating a "special protected group"
only in America is equal the same as special

Those safe houses for battered women tend to have a very christian bias. Kinda like the places for recovering addicts.
It could be simply that they are voting against any increased spending, no matter how good a cause.

It is not an increase in spending. It is a continuation of existing spending.

Same thing, really. You spend too much now, so cuts have to come from somewhere.

The amount spent per year on domestic violence victims through VAWA would fund about 12 minutes worth of the Iraq War.

Only slagger is retarded enough to believe bills actually contain 100% of what they're labeled.

clearly you are talking out of your ass OR you are a worthless troll..my job involves working with restraining orders, domestic violence and child abuse .. it was just a year ago NY made strangulation \ obstruction of breathing an offence under the DV laws due to people getting away with that act as a simple assault or less... as pointed out above and neatly avoided by you the legislation in question provides funds and services for prevention and protection... you make it easy to cheer for the Right wing destroying themselves...

maybe yes maybe no... but your "low information" female, gay and liberal voters will likely take it that way. Keep up the good job of alienating large demographics of voters teapottiers

Aren't we trying to cut spending? Do we really need to throw all kinds of extra money around at every conceivable ill you can think of? Cut military spending. Great! Cut subsidies. GREAT! Cut billions of pie in the sky feel-good programs like this AS WELL. Gotta fund medicare and student loans. Take your medicine libs.
After almost 20 years of throwing 1.6 billion at efforts to stop wife beaters, you would THINK local law enforcement could handle it by now.
their War on Women wages on and knows no bounds Fucking cry me a river already. WHINE!!

We don't keep them in prison.
We make prison too easy.
If the current sentencing guidelines aren't a deterrent....double them.
No segregation, no protective custody. Hard fucking labor.
And before you go all childish on me, I'm not talking about non violent crime.
I'm talking about predators, whether it be rapist, robbers and burglars, bullies etc.

LOL. Yeah, the problem must be that we don't prosecute and sentence people enough, because Lord knows, America doesn't put enough people in prison....

So, this bill is to protect certain groups? Why not all people?
I think you're a dipshit and I hope that hurts your feelings. Now run along and get your Obama money, chump. lol

Shameful. I've worked with many organizations that have been partially funded by the VAWA. It is a tiny investment of money that has saved countless lives of women (and probably some men) and kept kids safely with their families rather than in foster care.
These guys want their party to die for some reason.

because some Republicans didn't want to extend it to all people
luckily they were outvoted though

Ellis is a wife beater?
Not surprised..the whole "drunk vagrant living in a trailer" thing.... seems about right.
