Nugent threatens to take up arms against Obama

Aging rocker and National Rifle Association board member Ted Nugent is threatening to take up arms against President Obama, telling an interviewer that America’s  44th president “hangs out with communists” and “hates America.”

Nugent received a visit from U.S. Secret Service agents last year, after speaking at the NRA’s annual convention and saying:  “If President Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”

Obama has just begun his second term, and Nugent was in full fire in an interview with guns.com, conducted at the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Show.

The Obama administration “is attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George” and that “if you want another Concord Bridge, I’ve got some buddies,” Nugent threatened.

Nugent was referring to the Revolutionary War skirmish in Massachusetts — Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota, mistakenly identified it as in Concord, N.H., — in which colonial irregulars forced the British Army to retreat.

Nugent sneered at a visit by President Obama to the Vietnam Memorial.  “He pretends to pay honor to men who die fighting communism and then hangs out with, hires and appoints communists:  He is an evil, dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom, and we need to fix this as soon as possible.”

So did the “Motor City Madman” serve in Vietnam?

In his interview with guns.com Nugent did not identify any “communists” that Obama has hired or appointed.  Nor did he specify how he would “fix” a president who was re-elected by popular vote margin of nearly 5 million votes.  (GOP nominee Mitt Romney sought and received Nugent’s endorsement in the 2012 Michigan primary, and said it was “interesting to get to know” the NRA rocker.)

Nugent also identified America’s first African-American president with 18th-century British royalty, claiming that “the Barack Obama gang believes in ‘We the Sheepie’ (sic) and actually is attempting to re-implement the tyranny of King George that we escaped from in 1776.”

What set Nugent off, apparently, is the Obama administration’s proposal — in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., assassination of 20 first-graders and six adults — to close the “gun show loophole” and implement universal background checks for gun purchasers, limit the rounds on ammunition clips, and reimpose the ban on certain kinds of military-style assault weapons.

Nugent is no stranger to inflammatory rhetoric.  He was quoted in Rolling Stone as telling a Texas audience to “put a f—— gun in your hand, Texas, stormtroopers coming.”  He wrote a December column for the Washington Times advocating that voting rights be withdrawn from all persons receiving public assistance.

Nugent was convicted last year of illegally killing a bear in Alaska’s Tongass National Forest while filming a hunting show.

So we have a person who makes threats and is known to be irresponsible with guns, this is the perfect optimality to stem some potential violence.

I wonder why the righties aren't on board, if they are being honest when they say they are concerned about gun violence...

I could have been as easily done with this thread as all the 'drive-by' posters above but I can't resist another response.  For this Thread expemplifies a great deal of what is wrong.  

It begins with the Thread Title itself.

Nugent did NOT threaten the President.  His quote in the OP proves the fact.  Still, the preponderance of posts in this thread sum up to 'Yeah!  Me too!! I'm also going to make a baseless and ignorant observation and then act as if it never happened.  That way, I can do it all again next time.  YEAH!!!  That's the Ticket.'  Such behavior is both ignorant and irresponsible.

Now, before I'm accused of being a Nugent Fan-boi, let me make this clear:  He is an bleephole.  He is an bleephole that convinced other, bigger bleepholes that he matters after having written a handful of reasonably good tunes that are worth more than a single listen.  Those other, bigger bleepholes are his source of income.

But, speaking of Bleepholes, EVERYONE is a Bleephole in the eyes of someone.  I know I'M a Bleephole in the eyes of many, but I'm not worried about them.  People (who are also Bleepholes to some) don't see me as a Bleephole, and they get the majority of my attention provided I don't also see them as a Bleephole.

The Moral of this Story is:  DON'TBE A BLEEPHOLE AND NOBODY WILL THINK YOU ARE ONE.  But, also, dont make baseless and clearly false allegations about others because others told you that you should.  That, in itself, makes you a bleephole. Or, at least, an ignoramus.
