Waste of money to even build that thing in the first place.

Do we really need 11 carrier battle groups to defend this country?

Considering only 4 or 5 are deployed 4 or 5 are in some sort of maintenance availability, and the remaining in training or in port, maybe.

Ned: I tend to believe they exist not for national defense, but for global defense and projection of power.

Reduced by half and our national defense wouldn't suffer a bit.

How many problems do we create when we project our power, or didn't you bother to consider that possibility?

Did you ever consider that our foreign bases are the cause of many problems that are then used as evidence of threats to our national security? When does that circular reasoning end, or aren't those questions good for business?

That's about the only time I've ever agreed with you. The lone superpower feels a need to police the globe. It costs money and it's nowhere in our Constitution. It probably comes down to wealth more than anything. We are a corporate empire, operating under the umbrella of the U.S. military.

Just be glad the positions of the U.S. and some other countries aren't reversed, like, China on top and the U.S. just starting to build a navy. It's conceivable that the whole world would be under Chinese military-enforced servitude if that were the case. I don't have much good to say about Russia either.
