Legitimate criticisms of Iran's government notwithstanding, I think it's interesting that people such as yourself never criticize the equally repressive Islamist governments of US-allied countries such as Saudi Arabia. Is that because they get a free pass from our leaders and in the media? And that your opinions are entirely dictated to you by those two groups?

But the point is that we might just as easily be leveling sanctions against Saudi Arabia, except they're our pals. I'd love to see a day when one of our leaders comes out and admits to this hypocrisy. (I mean more than just the standard "yes, but he's OUR son-of-a-bitch" comment.) Iran's real crime is that she doesn't go along with the US's program. It's really that simple.

Most of the mysogyny, plus burnings of "heretics," "blasphemers," "unbelievers," scientists and anyone else who ran afoul of The Church. Oh, and let's not forget the witch trials, the "conquest of the Americas," which was largely aided and abetted by The Church, who demanded that everyone must convert to Christianity or be killed. Then there were the abuses of the wars of the Reformation and the Christian Fundamentalist movement, which is still fighting those wars, even today.

I would never want to come between Dubya and any of his prom dates.

Not to mention the fact that it was deeply heartwarming to hear Laura Bush advocating for the betterment of the situation of Afghan women while her husband was playing tongue-hockey with the leader of a country where women have virtually no rights. Glad our astute media jumped on that one!
