monsanto, whatever.
it was retorical.
I know it wasn't... but that's my point. What was portrayed in the commercial isn't a reality these days.... and Paul Harvey sucks. ![]()

It has farmers praying in it, even a church. Better call the ACLU, your tender sensibilities have been violated.
Also, most of the people in it are white, which is bad. And there are those greedy farmers, taking subsidies. Plus farming is just not hip or cool, so again, call the ACLU. You've been violated.
(hey, somebody had to say it...)
You're an ass, Murphy. I'll bet you've never heard of -- let alone heard -- Paul Harvey. He was a radio news-and-commentary broadcaster for at least 50 years. Yes, he was "conservative," but not in the current idiom. Harvey occasionally did write commentaries like that in praise of one person or another. I'd rather that the Dodge Ram folks hadn't used Harvey (who died in 2009) for commercial purposes, but even so, it was good to hear his voice again.
Mr. Harvey had a number of standard phrases that he used: If introducing an odd or unususal story, he would say, "Here is a strange...", or "For what it's worth" as a wry closing comment, right before his sign-off, "This is Paul Harvey...Good Day."
A couple of his pet catch-phrases even entered the language: If you've ever heard, ""Reaganomics" or "guesstimate," he's the one who coined them.
Another Paul Harvey catch phrase that I think needs repeating -- and should be tattooed on the forehead of every numbskull who thinks he or she should be allowed to do what he or she wants without limit or restraint -- is this:
"Self-government
won't work without
self-discipline."
That includes everyone from gun fanatics who think the Second Amendment is sacrosanct and should not be limited in any way to the big-money financiers and bankers who think they should be allowed to do what ever they damn well please so long as they personally get rich.
It should also be tattooed on the back of every politician's hand so he can read it as he's taking bribes or stainding up to disrupt what ever the other party is trying to do.

Definie "old people." I started listening to Paul when I was twelve. Or maybe a little younger.

Aye, that they are. And trolling the heck out of the forum for no good reason, to boot. Silly people.
For example...

That's kinda sad on a whole other level.
Cuts back time spent on teh PP

Of course it was just a truck commercial, but that won't stop the resident trolls from trying to "make libbies scream."

Oh well, if you're not happy, I suppose you could ask FIAT to refund your 58 seconds of viewing time.

Just a guess, but I think a real farmer drives what ever he damn well pleases, so long as it suits him and does so without asking anybody's permission; not even yours.
dblazer wrote:
Their commercials that say they only build trucks do crack me up though . . .
That part is true. When FIAT took over the management of Chrysler, they separated the Dodge car division from the Dodge Truck division. Dodge Trucks were re-named "RAM Trucks" -- they are no longer called "Dodge Ram Trucks." Or did you not notice that?

Awesome! Beautiful and so true. God Bless the hard working farmers in the USA. I know plenty and I can tell you they bust their asses every day.

Before you try to manufacture outrage you might want to learn when the First Amendment's Establishment Clause applies and what it prevents. You should also educate yourself on the concept of state action doctrine.
Chrysler isn't owned by the state/government so there is no first amendment violation.
BTW, Whose Open Jam alt are you?

Just a repetitve, simpleton commercial to draw the dum dums into buying something that will enslaven them more to the oil companies as gas prices rise again. Seen it all before.

Did not know that.
Ram Trucks - sounds like something used in demolition derby.
I've owned two Chrysler products - '67 Dart GT and an '88 LeBaron. The Dart had a lot of major problems that Chrysler fixed under the 5/50,000 warranty, which was exceptional at the time. Its engine trouble probably had more to do with the fact that it was a dealer demo and prospective customers ran it hard before it was broken in. The LeBaron was a great car. YMMV.

That is probably true. If God is part of this, then your actions as a vain and profane, hateful and hurtful loathing individual must get a lot of heavenly attention.

So God approves of Dodge Ram and farmers? Perhaps. Should I be offended? No. Did I think it was a smart or interesting commercial? No. Did I think it was too long? yes. They were trying to sell an image using God. I might have a bit of a problem with that. The commercial sold more about God and farmers then it did about the Dodge Ram. They totally made it about image. THAT is bad marketing as far as I'm concerned. You want to sell me something? Tell me what it's going to do for me on a more practical basis. But then I'm a female and perhaps this was a commercial trying to get male ego.

See, now they should have had a football player throwing a football and as he's running past the truck... he slows down to look at it like it's some hot female. Then have the truck kind of show itself off with the football player slathering... drool hanging down his chin. Next thing he's in the truck catching the football.
