She's fifty-one.  The significance of birthdays has to change when you've become more aware of your death day.  One of my best friends, our drummer, was unsucessful in his fight with cancer, but we will all be unsuccessful in fighting death.  If you are over the age of forty now, you have spent at least part of your life in a world of chemical dangers unprecedented in human history.  Some of those dangers are very complex chemical chains created to rid the world of pests.  Some of those dangers are from very simple elements like lead and asbestos.  Some things, like high fructose corn syrup, we have created to satisfy primal attractions to sweets, attractions that become addictions.  Then we have those addictions like nicotine and cocaine that have been promoted early on as healthy and beneficial.   We can't get it back, that time and clean environment, we just have to go move on.

So, carpe dium, take a cha-cha-cha chance.
