I wouldn't say that Danica is the most over rated but I don't think she'd be as highly rated if she were male or an ugly woman. I think she gets as much attention over he looks as she does because of her racing. I don't recall seeing any other NASCAR drivers star in a superbowl ad this year.
Get your buddies together and sponsor some fat ugly chick. Newbie would do it. It only costs about 30 million a year. bwahahaha
I don't think you read the thread correctly.
I think it's funny that a lot of you are dissing her because she's a pretty woman that can drive.
Trust me, if she couldn't drive, sponsors wouldn't care how she looked. She wouldn't have the ride.
I am not dissing her at all. I hope she wins in fact. I agree, if she couldn't drive she wouldn't have all of those sponsors and if she looked like madeleine albright and could drive as well as she does now she still wouldn't be doing super bowl ads. agreed?
OK I'll agree.
But why is it a negative to exploit your looks?

You have a good point there. It isn't like she's the first to do that in the sport anyway. Jeff Gordon probably wouldn't have gotten as many endorsements if he didn't look good on TV.

OK Newbs....Danica did great today...was in the top ten for virtually all the race and finished 8th...what do you have to say about that?

That was a good race. I watched the entire Daytona 500.

I saw the last 20 laps, it's hard to tell the difference between running on a caution flag and running the race IMO. Not much to interest me, for sure.
Regarding Danica, it's typical redneck sexism/patronization; they interviewed the person that started first and finished eighth before they talked to the person who started ninth and finished first. She's a decent driver, but she's not all that compared to the five guys who passed her on the white flag lap, which they also didn't mention. She went from third to eighth in one go around.
She's a better driver or her very worst day than I've ever been on my very best, but she's got to decide if she wants to be the "cutie" novelty act or a driver. Her choice, there's probably more money in shaking her booty AND driving. God bless America, of course.

You do know why they did that, don't you? It's because Johnson was still out on the track and hadn't made it to victory lane...they interviewed several drivers before they got to Johnson...it's that way at every race.

Six other guys made it into the pits before Johnson did, so my statement stands as originally made. I don't want to look up the start/finish positions for the other guys, I know the one kid went from 15th to 2nd or something. If we were just talking about racing it seems that would have been the interesting angle.
That's my NASCAR for the year, I got bored watching 20 laps, and if the person in the fastest car got passed by five people on the last lap it makes me think she lacks aggression/determination or something to be great. Time will tell. She did make around $12 million last year, and was the 8th highest paid driver in NASCAR despite nothing much to show for it. But she made 160 times what I did, so I guess it doesn't matter.

I didn't watch the race but she did better than I would have ever expected.
Congrats Danica.

How so? I'm just making observations. She gets different treatment than other drivers based on her looks and gender. That's our society. I'd rather my daughter concentrated on her skills than her looks, but maybe I've been giving her the wrong advice for the last 30 years.
I don't like NASCAR; it's got a low rent, "it's all about the marketing" agenda, the races are boring, and as 50 Cent said, there aren't any black people.
It's all yours.

That remins me. I watched "The Love Bug" on HDNet yesterday. No commercials. If Danica can find a car like Herbie...
As an adult male, you chose to watch that?

I saw the last 5 laps, Danica was in 3rd place for the last lap, ended up 8th. FWIW I don't know if I'd like to drive at 150mph next to anyone. ![]()

Danica drove a great race. Top ten all the way, got stuck in traffic on the last lap.
Having said that, I thought the race was basically a bore. Lead changes depended on pit stops, not the drivers or their cars. Watching long lines of cars drafting each other lap after lap isn't much fun, at least on TV.

when that women goes on driving like that, then her pollution karma will be that much in the negative that she is reborn as Moto Guzzi V-2 engine in her next life

. Maybe Shirley Muldowney, Shelly Anderson, Rhonda Hartman, Cristen Powell, or Ashley Force helped, but I don't think Danica's career did anything for Courtney's racing in the nitro ranks.
Ashley Force drives a nitro powered Funny Car. I doubt Courtney would have driven if her sister was not so successful in the funny car ranks. I hope they both do well but catching their father will be a tall order.
Here's Ashley..
