The CBS team at the cabin got caught in the firefight, have recordings of cops yelling "******* burn the ******" (their bleeps).  They also have radio monitor recording of the supervisors saying that they should "send in the burner like we discussed."  A burner is a type of tear gas canister that is very hot and known to start fires.  They placed seven of them in the cabin.

I heard one guy from the upper echelons of the LAPD mention that it was scary to be "specifically targeted" just because of who you are...the irony was lost on many in the land (and epicenter) of racial profiling and police brutality.

(Ok, LAPD lovers, before you start barking, this statement is not meant as a condonement of Dorner's attacks on the LAPD.)
