How can you tell what key a group of chords are in?

Okay,


How can u tell?

IE... G,C,D?


Explain as simply as possible. I have a limited knowledge of theory?

I should be able to keep it simple since I'm not a theory monster like JonR from guitar.com.

G,C,D

You must look at the notes in the chords.

GMaj = G B D
CMaj = C E G
DMaj = D F# A

The Key of G Major = G A B C D E F# G
