I'm like a sad little girl.

But there's no spam!
I'm like a cat with a canary... ![]()
I say two oversize lots of kudos to the guy who designed the anti-spam filters. [Kudos is singular, of course, but it's hard to use it in a way that makes it clear you know that.]

So even the spammers dislike the new forum software? ![]()

Sigh. People probably can't find the place.

Whatever it takes.
I alternate beteween being delighted by the stuff that does work well -- especially because the last few months on the old system were so horrible -- and ticked off with all the little (and a couple of not so little) things that still need fixing.
What I WOULD like to see would be an item list where acknowledged problems and needed fixes could be listed along with some sort of hinting as to relative priorities and time frames.

I can handle all the things that need to be fixed... I just want people to post again.
It's not THAT bad.

I mean... am I supposed to work a full day now? C'mon people.

It's super-fast
And built of glass and chrome
The old place was made
Of earth and wood
And felt like home.

Yeah, the structure of the new forums is not very intuitive.
I'll certainly agree that the navigation leaves something to be desired -- the menus should show you the community pages (that are just snippet aggregators for that defined 'community's' forums and blogs) but also offer to take you directly to the particular forum you want to go to.
That should have been pretty obvious to the developers.
But, for gosh sake, once a user knows where a forum is, if he doesn't bookmark its location, I'd suggest he's too clueless or just dead-headed to worry about.

Maybe I could train you to take over my day job.
How do you feel about mixed mode programming? =0)
[corrected; I wrote mixed model programming before. That's where you have one subroutine that does runway shows and another that does magazine covers.]

There are real problems, large and small.
But these people who whine on and on about stuff that is easily worked around seem mostly to be worthless lumps of negativity and annoying, pointless, persiflage anyhow. I can't imagine most of them add anything of value to the site even in the best of times. Instead, they post gutter/obscene insults to each other, pornography, including some really vile stuff (I'm no prude but sick is sick).
This site would be better off without a lot of these parasites.
Yes. People, in general, are idiots.

People are idiots is shorter and more concise.

Basil Fawlty thought people were 'A waste of space' (Well - Manuel in particular).

Fawlty Towers was a great show. Feydeau, Wodehouse and Fawlty Towers - that's all you need.

After the Python team went their semi-separate ways, and Cleese was doing Fawlty, Michael Palin was doing Ripping Yarns. Exceedingly British stuff. I still love it. Did it get to US Television?

I don't remember it. I wasn't watching Fawlty Towers until the 90's.

It did, I remember watching 'Yarns' way back. Only one time around though, that I know of...too British, maybe.
