So... is it an issue?
I do get what Os is saying about the song structure/chord movement providing a lift at the solo in the original version. What I'm saying is that I don't particularly care for what that structure/movement does to the guitar solo that occupies that part of the song. I'm sure you could go back and tweak something and make it even better than it already is. However, if I were you, I'd be satisfied with the pretty awesome take you have now (the one with Avery's extended solo).
And one more disclaimer: I'm probably the weakest all-around musician of any of the regulars here. Heck, I think that's probably the first time I've ever called myself a musician. So, you probably shouldn't take my opinion too seriously.

FWIW, I agree that, Justin should be thrilled with the Avery version. I'd be out of my mind if I wrote something this awesome.
My critique arrises because I'm not judging the song from the perspective of a fellow forumite, I'm judging it from the perspective of it it hand been on "The Wall" or "Revolver", because it really is that good. I've stripped away all fellow comraderie and have my critical mind at its most heightened level.

Os... how about I upload the stems and send them to you... and you can have your way with it. See what you come up with?

Great! Let me know when you have a download link, or you can just attach the files to a couple emails. Can you make sure that everything starts at 0 and the solos are isolated? And let me know the BPM as well.

I'm going to have to google how to get everything to 0 in ProTools... but yeah, I'll send you all the files. Have to figure out how to convert the drums to an audio file as well...

Set it at zero just means have the slider that sets the beginning edge of the export slid all the way to the left. Even if I know the BPM, if it starts mid beat it is nearly impossible to work with.

click the wav - hold down shift + enter it will highlight the whole wav right back to point zero - now press SHIFT+ALT+3 it will consolodate the wav into one wav including the silence - now click it in the region list on the right and right click (or whatever mac people do) and export as wav (make sure its either set to stereo or multiple mono depending if its a stereo or mono file
for drums
on the output of the drum channel in the mixer, where it probably says STEREO OUT or something change that to a stereo bus that you arent using
make a new stereo track and make the input of that the same bus you set the drum out to
arm record and it will record drums to a track
Hope this helps

Sure thing... check your hotmail account.
To both: I included an extra guitar solo track... I think I called it Alternate Avery Take or something like that. I prefer the original... but if you're thinking of doing something drastic, you may be able to draw from it.
