BLOCKBUSTER CHALLENGE: APRIL 2012

Hello one and all.

These seem to have become bi-monthly of late , but people seem full of ideas right now. Let me know if you'd rather it was monthly again.

Anyway.

This months challenge:

Time restriction - You have 1min 30 (max but im not gonna pick up on a few secs over or whatever) as the duration of your song

Its up to you if you'd like to do verse/chorus structure of just keep it simple.

Try not to take a full song and just chop the end off it - see if you can say everything you want to say in the allotted time

Good luck musicians

Re: BLOCKBUSTER CHALLENGE: APRIL 2012

One Minute Thirty Seconds

V
Slipped open my vibrating phone
You know I like to stay connected
Source Restricted, Unknown
Not entirely unexpected
But in the back of my mind
This had the ring like the end of an era
Felt my composure unwind and
All at once I knew… it was Sarah

C
One minute, thirty seconds
Was the time it took to know
One-Mississippi-Two to ninety
For her to say she had to go
Not a whole lot of time in the span of things
But an eternity till realization springs
Like forever as my hand tightened ‘round the phone
One minute, thirty seconds
Total Connect Time on the nose
One minute, thirty seconds
Was the time it took to know
“The truth is the whole.”

Really? Bee's songs seem that long to you? I always felt like they floated by so quickly... You know, timeless. LCK

Re: BLOCKBUSTER CHALLENGE: APRIL 2012

I'm only reacting to how he's always self conscience of their length. They don't seem long to me either. Those ^ other guys are mean. Watch out for that bus! :smileyhappy:

I really don't think Justin's songs are long at all. They're Pink Floydesque and perfect at their present length.

Forgiven.

In all seriousness, I started working on one last night and... well... it's a challenge.

ha - was only joking.... i think it was more that he likes his slow songs rather than them "feeling" too long :smileywink:

Re: BLOCKBUSTER CHALLENGE: APRIL 2012

I like this idea. We're all in a hurry nowadays so get to the point, right? Plus I haven't tried one of the challenges lately.

So here's what I've got so far:

If you buy one
And get the second for free
If I grab me a third
Will they hand some money back to me
I'd just like to see

And if I tell you once
That I love you so
If I tell you twice
Would you pack your things and leave
For Albany

Oh try to help me understand
What makes a girl
Love a man like me
I need to see

I may need a catchy refrain to stretch this to 90 seconds but I'll try to post a video soon.

I posted my response "Three." here. Thank you stick for doing this challenge thing. I'm not exactly sure why, but I find it a very enjoyable exercise. Rick
