What? Did They Just Turn This Thing On?

WTF? 6:45 and they flip the switch to on? This board kills me sometimes. You can't post all day and then it's lightening fast.

I was going to respond about an hour ago but the site slowed down again. It is indeed some temperamental software. I guess that's why they were trying to update a while back.

Re: What? Did They Just Turn This Thing On?

shhhh...we will be migrating to a new platform later this year..again...
This all is at the hands of the GC IT team, who took over whe nthey consolidated the MF It last year...trust me, no one is happy about the site performance issues. It is getting so I can't even clean out the spam around here. You guys don't see it (a technological advance), but we do...

-Yeah- what he said.
If this thing worked right, you'd all get more of my wonderful witty comments. Sometimes I sober up and they're not as funny as I thought, so I don't post them!

Re: What? Did They Just Turn This Thing On?

It's working at the moment, but I got real tired of trying to load pages. The thing that really hurts is typing a long reply and having it be gone, never to be seen again.

I've got to remember to copy to the clipboard before hitting the button!

It's actually helped break me of the habit of popping over here "for a minute" and spending the next two hours wandering through the posts.

Apparently Craig Anderton has posted about the problems and is hoping to launch the new platform near the end of January. there's a thread about it over in Live Sound.

Re: Wow, who rearranged the furniture?   Site is back AND new...

But I almost missed it! I had this forum set up as a bookmark on my iPad and it just kept saying it couldn't find the server. I finally did a search for Harmony Central and found my way back. Why would you do something like that without warning?

Personally I think the new site is great. Give me two hours will "GOD" access and it would be better.

I like the new look. Looks like it's a big improvement. Guess we have to redo our avatars...

Re: What? Did They Just Turn This Thing On?

I am still feeling my way around a well...with three forums to mod, plus all the mod/admin interaction due to the new software, I am picking stuff up all the time.

Please if anyone is having issues with the new site, let me know via PM and I will attempt to address it for you :robotfrustrated:

it is on the list of requests...the loooong list...:smileywink:

I even lost my blue spinning strat...not really their fault, but I miss it.

btw, for those interested..the 'message listing' down at the bottom of the page is the breadcrumb back to the forum...yeah, I know, but we are just renters here, not owners. Do not ask about the kudos... the 'quote' button appears after you hit reply, so you have to hit reply on the post you want to quote, and there is no multi-quote yet [also on that loooong list]

I love the Kudos. I hope they dont get rid of it. It would be equal to removing the "Like" button from Facebook.

I sussed out the quote facility, thanks daddymack.

I'm just glad to be able to get back in and for the pages to load at a decent speed again.

I'm sure thge other stuff will get sorted in time. :smileyhappy:
