I use Cubase 7 and I usually start my projects right at bar one, but then later when exporting an audio mix-down I like to have 2 or 3 seconds of silence on the track before the tune starts.
Now I do know that I can select a range and choose the option add silence which works, but the problem with that is that this shift's my whole tune on the 'meter track' , normally this would not be a problem, but I have changing meters in most of my tunes, so then all of a sudden the bars don't align with the takes anymore.
Therefore I was wondering if there is any other way of inserting a few seconds of silence to an audio mix-down?
If you left recording time that can be silenced, just use the envelope feature or normalize to infinity.
If you dont have any time at the beginning, then you have to copy and paste it in, then bounce to tracks.
Just select all tracks when doing this so all tracks get shifted evenly when pasting in some more track leader.
you also can export the mix-down as is to the final wav file. and than load the final stereo wav file to a new empty cubase project and place it where ever you want to add silence in front of your mix down.
you can also than add any processing what you still want/need to do your mixdown, as fade-ins fade-outs at the beginning or end, to some mastering processing, like comp and limiters and final eq's, loudness enhancement, stereo enhancing and what ever
and than finally you can export these as final "mastered" mixdown
I don't have cubase in front of me, but isn't there a way to create an offset. I can't remember where in the menus, but it's where you set your timecode offset; there's also an option to set a measure offset. I would imagine you can just set a two measure offset and boom, "zero" will now be measure negative two.
