There are tons of 'which monitors' threads on this very forum - well worth checking out.
For that kind of money, you're probably looking to get something fairly small and 'functional'. Unless you try the used market, where you can get very lucky with project studio gear that often goes for very small pennies on the pound.
I'd vote for Tannoy Reveals, since I use them and find them to be pretty good for the money. 2nd hand shouldn't be too far outside your budget.
