Where I am you can get things like french fries and fried chicken halves among other non-chinese types of food
You'll never see anyone except Chinese or some kind of Asian people working in those resturants. The exception I've seen is delivery people...once in awhile they hire a white kid.
Never understood how they get away with it...not suppose to be legal to have such an unbalanced racial makeup of employees. Unless the stores are to small to have to meet the hiring regulations.
Who cares anyway..pass the ribs!![]()

There's only a few places that I'll do takeway since my 'Easter Sunday' incident.
I had bad Chinese food (probably undercooked chicken) late one night and I woke up a few hours with severe cramps and I was on the toilet every five minutes. After a few hours, I went to the emergency room but that's another story.
From then on, I take notice how clean a place is (bathroom, kitchen) before I order anything. Some people will ask to see the buffett food before they go in. Me? I'll go and take a leak and peek in the bathroom. If the bathroom is clean and there's soap in the dispensers, I'll take a chance.

Years ago I used to be a chef/cook, what I saw causes me to not like to eat in restaurants.

I used to be a cook too and I do agree with you on some of the shenanigans that goes on behind closed doors.
That's the main reason I try not to eat in restaurants too much.
There are only a few select establishments that I will go to if I have to eat out. I have a teen and a wife I have to treat out once in a while.

I don't know whether or not that's true, but I worked in a pizza restaurant one summer, and never saw anything untoward happen.

I did my fair share of 'KP' (peeling potatos and washing dishes) while I was a private but no, I wasn't a cook in the military.
I was a cook at Sizzler before I enlisted and I could tell you some stories about hygiene and employee thefts. I would grill myself some surf and turf once a week courtesy of a 'five finger discount' at the walk in frig at Sizzler. Nowadays, video cameras are a big deterrant for employee thefts. I was young and dumb back then.

i have stopped going to my favourite thai place after witnessing the cook pick part of my meal up off the floor and place it in the takeaway container.i guess the owner wasnt too concerned as i never heard from her.they have my number.pity as now i cant have me chicken satay ffs!im thinking i may have to get out of this town soon.seem to have alienated myself from restaurants, supermarket, shops, people who used to be fwends, the guberment,in fact, even myself doesnt talk to me anymore. brian still gives me a hug when i feed her.

French fries are actually a Belgian invention.
02-04-2013 03:48 PM
our food hall is similar...the italian food(read glop),is made by men who look very much like asians.i asked them once if they were in fact genuine eyeties, and got some very nasty looks.speaking of french frys not being french, the dutch pizza was actually invented in japan by a austraylian mathmatician named bruce.

We have an Asian resturant here in town, my wife likes it and does takeway every once in a while.

We have an Asian restaurant that just opened around here and we've been there a few times and we noticed the same thing.
The girls are young, pretty and nice. We always tip 'em good and we make sure that they put the money in their pockets instead of the community tip jar. I don't know their story but we never see them out and about either.

I think someone pays for them to come to the states, and they have to pay off the bill when they get here, by working in the resturant. They are basically slaves and there bill is never paid up. I really don't know though.
