What's up ladies and gents?

I'm brand spanking new to the joint, so I figured I'd pop in and say hello. Seems like a great community. 

I'm, as you can guess, a musician, lol. I started off playing the violin 24 years ago and it's basically been a downhill trainwreck (in the best way!) since. These days I play a lot of guitar, a lot of viola, and I dabble in cello and piano. I also played bass in a jazz band for a while, and I've taken to the mandolin over the past few months. So yeah, stuff with strings, and I have way more instruments than are necessary for one human being.  

So yeah, I compose, I record, and I thoroughly enjoy all of it. I got my degree in music from Virginia Commonwealth University back in 2007, and have since taken co-ownership of a violin shop in Richmond, VA. I'm the repair-troll-cum-luthier, and I don't have as much time for the muzak as I used to, unfortunately. 

I'm also a die hard a car enthusiast, and a lover of classical music, red wine, black metal, fine cuisine, animals, and the outdoors.

I was doing a search for mic placement on my Ampeg VH-140c and an ancient, ancient thread from this forum popped up in the googles.

I ended up digging through the forum and thought it was thoroughly strange and informative. I like strange and informative.
