Special Announcement Update:

You asked, we listened! Please note that User Reviews are back! The Home page has returned to an editorial focus, with an emphasis on Articles and Industry News. The drop down menus are gone and simpler navigation has been implemented, and the forum landing page structure is going back to a more familiar layout. This transition is being performed "live", so some things may be moving around temporarily as we complete the process. Thanks for your patience as we implement these changes that our Community Members have asked for.

Issue 205

Indeed, the Only Constant is Change

A new platform for a web site certainly helps drive that point home...

DMThumb.pngThis “Dear Musician” is being written before we’ll know whether the transition to “HC 3.0” worked or not. Right now, we all feel like we’ve moved into a new house, and the movers have unloaded the boxes—but we don’t know where the blender is, or the TV. Nor do we know if some of the boxes will have broken dishes inside. But, we have our air mattress and sheets, the heat is working, there’s some takeout in the kitchen, and we’re starting the process of settling in.

A working platform is just the start. We already know we’ll need to tweak the article layouts, some of the forum placements will need to move around, and we still have a few weeks to go before we can start running reviews again. But instead of being at the end of the past, as we were with the previous platform, we’re at the beginning of the future. We're hoping that IT can turn any needed changes around as expeditiously as possible.

So Harmony Central is changing, and this reminds us what change is all about: It’s wrenching, exciting, surprising, nerve-wracking . . . and inevitable. We invite you along on our wild ride, and hope you’ll check back frequently to see what the new house looks like after we paint the kitchen, put up the drapes, and replace those wretched tubular fluorescent lights. But feel free to drop by anytime; you’re invited to sit by the fireplace, have a hot chocolate with us, and most importantly . . . play some music, because nothing makes a house a home like the sound of music wafting through the rooms.
